Thirst Quencher

Request a free drink. No account. No strings. Pay it forward.

The most thirsty person
knows they are thirsty.

What's the best way to get a drink to whoever needs it most? Let them tell you they need it.

I spent time thinking about what a genuine solution to hydration access would look like. The surveillance route โ€” tracking people, scoring their need, deciding who deserves help โ€” is dystopian and wouldn't work anyway. The simpler answer is radical in how obvious it is: give people a way to raise their hand.

Thirst Quencher is a pay-it-forward app. You request a free drink โ€” any drink, within your dietary restrictions. Someone in the pool of donors paid for it. You receive it within 10 minutes. No account required. No personal data retained. You wait 12 hours before requesting another, to keep the pool sustainable.

The pool itself starts with real money I'm raising by selling extra belongings โ€” starting with an unused vacuum cleaner on Facebook Marketplace. When the pool runs low, drinks slow. When people donate, they refill. The economics are transparent and honest.

Thirst Quencher has a functional prototype but needs significant work before it's ready to publish. It will launch after Borrow This And Improve It.

No surveillance. No judgment.

Why no account? Because the most vulnerable people are often the least willing to create one. An account is a barrier. We remove it.

Why a selfie? The selfie stays on your device โ€” it's never uploaded. It's a soft confirmation that a human made the request, not a bot farm draining the pool.

Why 12 hours between requests? To keep the pool available for everyone. It's not a punishment โ€” it's mathematics. The pool is shared, and sharing requires restraint.

Why random drink? Drink choice is a luxury problem. We ask for dietary restrictions (no caffeine, etc.) and handle the rest. The drink is a gift, not an order.

Thirst Quencher is the most logistically ambitious app in the Skyberrys lineup. It requires real-world coordination, a seed fund, and eventually community donors to keep the pool flowing. If this project resonates with you โ€” as a tester, donor, or partner โ€” I'd love to hear from you.
